No matter how young we feel inside, at one point in our lives, we are going to have to take care of our body a little bit better. As we get tired after a long day at work, so do our bodies: they need more time to recover, and our skin is not as glowing and gentle as it used to be. Benefits of drinking more water throughout the day are many: it feeds your body and flushes out toxins and bacteria. This means that your internal organs will work great, you will be helping your kidneys and liver work better, and your skin will be glowing. New cells will be built faster if you only start drinking more water every morning.

Perhaps your beauty routine consists of washing your face and removing makeup only, but as you get closer to your forties, it should include some other things, too.  A nice thin layer of moisturizer is a perfect way to keep the skin hydrated and fresh. Not only does it make the skin more elastic, but it helps protect it and keeps its natural moisture inside. If you have naturally oily skin, applying cream or serum in the morning may be unnecessary, and you should do it in the evening instead. When you leave your home in the morning, try using a simple moisturizer that contains SPF protection of at least 30.

If the idea of going to the gym every day and sweating for a couple of hours does not seem appealing, you can try some mild exercise instead. Even if it’s mild, any form of activity will benefit you greatly. You will stay strong and delay getting those annoying back pains for a couple of years at least. Simple walks in the park after work, going for a swim at least once a week, and riding a bike will make you feel refreshed, keep your heart strong, and reduce blood pressure.

Sometimes, no matter how much effort you put into your looks, there is nothing you can do to reverse the effects of time. However, that doesn’t mean that the battle is lost – there are those who can help you get rid of those imperfections you see in the mirror. Taking care of your body in your forties is incredibly important, and the more attention you give it, the better results you will get. Be gentle and thorough – apply moisturizers, drink water, work out, and your body will be happy, thus staying healthy and appearing younger than it actually is.
