2012 is surely a year worth celebrating for Evelyn Tjoe. This year alone, the gifted actress has appeared on multiple TV shows, national commercials, graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), and wrapped a horror movie “Ghost Child” directed by Gilbert Chan (23:59). Most recently, Evelyn has just finished shooting for Okto channel’s new musical series, “After School”. Evelyn plays an incredible singer, but bad dancer student named Felicia, the main character in the show.
Both “Ghost Child” and “After School” are scheduled for release next year. However, Evelyn will no longer be in Singapore to enjoy the fruits of her labor by then. Come January, she will be moving to sunny California upon receiving an offer for a role in a Hollywood movie. This is spectacular news especially because she is currently one of the most anticipated young actresses in Asia. She has played many different roles in her career, and there is an incredible depth in every performance. Her youthful face has allowed her to continue to play characters of high school age, even though she is way past it. Everyone is excited to Evelyn’s Hollywood movie debut, but I am also excited for 30 January 2013, the premiere date for “After School”.
“After School” tells a story of passion and rivalry of two musical groups, when their principal forces them to make a musical performance together. Stars Julia Abueva, Tony Eusoff and Miranda Rose will also be making appearances on the show. All new episodes will air every Wednesday 8 PM, with reruns every Sunday at noon.
