Jessie Malcolm Empowering Emotional Honesty Through Her Music

A real artist in the truest sense of the meaning, Jessie Malcolm — generally known as “Malcolm” — empowers emotional honesty within her music. Jessie started songwriting from a very young age as a way of expression and hiding herself away at the piano. This was like her secret spot, where she could vent without anyone watching. With Fleetwood Mac and Nina Simone always present in the background of a household filled with music, her passion for soul & blues was born from those early experiences.

At 16, Jessie found her authentic voice playing in a Led Zeppelin tribute band, finally completely free. This is where she learned how to cut loose and whoop as though her very life depended on it, something that’s become a signature in the music of Williams. Another impact of gospel music was her art. At 18, Jessie moved to London, where she sang in a gospel choir and worked as a house musician at an upscale piano bar while facing life struggles. However, her recording of “Never Walk Alone” from the gospel album of Aretha Franklin (the Queen) takes on an entirely different perspective.

Jessie is self-taught, and this has developed into her own signature raspy, brittle voice. As time passed, she found a way to care for her voice in its peculiar ways. Her album, the backdrop for her song “Silence,” tells a story of grief and healing. Drew Horley will produce the 2025 album.

One highlight of Jessie’s career was performing at Hotel Cafe in LA during her first week in the city. This marked the beginning of a transformative period.
