3 Tips For Healing And Hiding Small Burns

Every day in life, people get little cuts, scrapes, bruises, and burns. And while most of these are pretty minor, there will likely come a time when the harm you receive will be a little more traumatic and cause some real injuries to your person. In situations like this, it’s good to know how you can heal from your injuries and move on with your life.

When it comes to burns, the pain and scarring can last for quite some time, so it’s important to know what to do when you first get a burn so you can start the healing process as soon as possible. And even once you’re completely healed, there still might be some evidence of the injury you once received.

So to help you on all of these fronts, here are three tips for healing and hiding small burns.

First, Relieve The Heat

As soon as you get burned by something, the very first thing you should do is try to relieve the heat from the burn.

To help you with this, Dr. Debra Sullivan, a contributor to Healthline.com, recommends that you do things like run cool water on your burn, use cold compresses, apply healing ointments, and use aloe vera or honey on the affected area. By using all of these remedies, you should be able to stop the burning and cool the area enough to start the healing process.

Reduce The Appearance Of Burn Scars

As your burn starts to heal, you may still have scars that last for weeks, months, or even years depending on how bad your burn was. If the burn you sustained was on a part of your body that’s very visible, like your face, neck, hands or arms, you may want to find a way to reduce the appearance of these burn scars.

When attempting to do this, Bethany Cadman, a contributor to Medical News Today, suggests that you first try remedies that include silicone gel. These types of products have been shown to reduce redness, stiffness, and the size of burn scars.

Use Makeup For Additional Coverage

Once your burn has healed completely and you’ve been able to reduce the appearance of your scars as much as possible, you may still have some evidence of the burn on your skin. But with the right makeup application, you can likely find a way to cover this scar.

According to Rebecca Norris, a contributor to Women’s Health Magazine, the best way to cover scars with makeup is to, first, ensure that your skin is clean and moisturized. After this, you’ll want to use a primer on the entire area and then apply concealer directly to your scar. With the scar under concealer, you can then apply the rest of your foundation to your face, if that’s where your scar is. Once you’re finished, if you need to add a little more concealer, do so now.

If you have minor burns that you’d like to heal or hide, especially if they’re on your face, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you do just that.
