When a Safe Place Feels Like a Trap – Listen to SAVARRE™’s “Haven”

Okay, so I have to tell you about this song I heard the other day – “Haven” by SAVARRE™. Seriously, it’s been stuck in my head ever since. It’s beautiful but also intense.

The first thing that hit me was the atmosphere. It’s almost like a movie soundtrack. You can tell Shannon Denise Evans (visionary of SAVARRE™) isn’t just singing a song, she’s telling a story. And for those who don’t know – she’s also known as The Storyweaver™, which makes total sense! She does everything from writing plays to acting, so she knows how to craft a narrative. And “Haven” feels like you’re diving right into the middle of one.

The song starts with this line that’s both creepy and captivating: “Isn’t this… the end of the world?” It instantly makes you think something’s not right, and it sucks you into this tale of fighting for yourself, trying to survive, and eventually, wanting to be free.

But what REALLY got me was Shannon’s voice. You can hear everything in it – the hurt, the anger, but also this incredible strength. The lyrics, which she wrote herself, are like poetry. There’s this part that goes, “This haven you told me was sacred, a place where we could survive, where love could trade places with hatred—but if I stay, if I stay, if I stay—I’ll never leave here alive.” It’s such a powerful image of a place that was supposed to protect you but became something you needed to escape.

And the music? The production team creates this sound that’s both huge and kind of suffocating. It builds and builds, layering instruments until it explodes with raw spectra rock energy. It’s one of those tracks where you just have to close your eyes and listen to it closely.

“Haven” is about more than just a bad relationship or a tough time. It’s about getting out of places and situations that are hurting you and taking control of your own life. The lyrics “Let me go… Let me live...” is an absolute declaration of freedom. The song gets to this climax, where the person in the song is just done with the fake haven and chooses to walk away, even if it’s scary.

Shannon talks about offering a safe space to others, where they can find comfort and support. And I think that’s just what the song offers. SAVARRE™ has made something truly special – music that’s personal but also speaks to everyone. It tells us that it’s okay to walk away, to choose yourself, and to fight for your own freedom.

Give “Haven” a listen. And definitely follow SAVARRE™ on Instagram and Facebook. This is an artist who’s going places, and I’m excited to see what she does next!
