NieuwLook… what is it?
NieuwLook is a Caribbean- inspired swim and resort wear brand which aims to make “statements”
This fresh and innovative brand was conceptualized by Jaselle Henry of Trinidad and Tobago as an authentic representation of her love and passion for fashion!
From the tender age of 8, she was exposed to the delights of fashion, often designing artistic and fashionable paper cutouts for her dolls. Later, she continued with her love for designing while studying Visual Arts and Dressmaking in her teenage years. Despite her deep passion for fashion and designing, she pursued her second love of education as a career, graduating with a Bachelor of Education degree . She would return to designing several years later when she completed a MSc. degree in International Management from the University of Liverpool. Wanting to live her dream as a designer, she eventually embarked on her journey three years ago and finally established NieuwLook in 2017. She launched her first swim and resort wear collection “GET STATED” to blend seamlessly with the brand’s slogan “What’s your statement?”
NieuwLook caters to the fashion-conscious woman of today with its fresh and feminine designs. Catering to all silhouettes and sizes from petite to plus size, NieuwLook is worn by stylish women and utilizes an assortment of fabrics ranging from nylon and spandex to even velvet! Its hand-crafted garments with bright and bold hues are often created utilizing attractive designs and mixed media methods and techniques. NieuwLook even incorporates costume wire construction in some its unique, specialized pieces for its clients!
NieuwLook proudly celebrates having presented its Carnival Monday- wear collection entitled “Focus” at the RedRunwayTT Fashion Gala in 2017. Its summer collection “Waves” was the premier feature at the “Caribbean Showcase” hosted by the Artform Academy at Hilton Poolside, Trinidad. It has presented at numerous pop-up shops across Trinidad and Tobago and has even participated at the Pompasette Brunch Party and Fashion Showcase in Barbados.
NieuwLook aims to be at the forefront of Caribbean and even international fashion, with its fresh and innovative designs being worn by women globally. It accepts mail orders and online clients and presently exports designs to St. Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, The United States of America, Canada and even The Netherlands. NieuwLook also uses the platform “Trendibbean” based in Guadeloupe and France as well as Toutartisan based in Martinique. The NieuwLook website (nieuwlook.com) was launched on social media in 2017 and its designs can also be viewed on Intstagram (nieuwlook_statement_tt) and Facebook (NieuwLook).
