Daniel Doyle Pleasantville is a successful photographer based in Pleasantville, Ohio. With a deep background in portrait, event, wedding and landscape photography, he brings a sophisticated vision to the Ohio arts scene. Doyle grew up in Pleasantville and attended Ohio State University, where he majored in Photography. After college, he took a gap year in Europe where he enjoyed the varied cultures, landscapes, and architecture. He started a popular photoblog while he was abroad and was able to use it as a portfolio after he returned from Europe.

Dan Doyle Pleasantville photographer spent his first several years as a professional photographer in New York City. With his own studio in Queens, Doyle was an important part of the arts and photography scene. Retail, fashion, event, and portrait photography were the backbone of his business. He also took headshots for many up-and-coming actors in New York.

Doyle grew tired of the hectic and fast-paced atmosphere in New York and looked for a quieter place to pursue his dreams. He decided to return to his hometown of Pleasantville, where he could be close to family while exploring the gorgeous landscapes of Ohio and the surrounding states. Doyle’s new studio venture has so far been a success, and he is making waves in the Ohio photography community.

Please Introduce Yourself to Our Reader

My name is Daniel Doyle Pleasantville, and I am a professional photographer. I have spent many years developing my photography business here in Pleasantville. There have been many times where I have struggled and many times where I have flourished. However, I have recently come to a point to where I am able to safely pursue photography full-time. It has been an incredible journey that I am thankful for. I wish to help other aspiring photographers reach their goals of going full-time. I hope I can provide the right information that helps others achieve this.

Share an experience you had in dealing with a difficult person and how you handled the situation?

There was one time that I had a client who was not happy with the work that they received. However, it was a simple misunderstanding that caused a rift between us. We don’t oftentimes realize that clients sometimes struggle to convey what they want in a project. They are indecisive and anxious about what they want. The problem with the artist is that it is difficult to undo the process once it has been done. However, I was able to unravel this precarious situation and explain what was going on to my client. It worked out in the end and they were quite happy with the new direction that we ended up taking.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

I firmly believe in expanding your business as often as possible. I would like to open up another photography studio in a nearby town. I believe that we can provide the right resources to people that will allow them to capture the moments that they cherish.

What part of photographer are you’re most nervous about?

I am always cautious about becoming irrelevant. I am always finding new ways to experiment with photography trends that are in demand. However, they may not always jive with my personal style. This means that I am constantly looking for ways to find a balance that will meet my personal needs and those of the client. Fortunately, I have been able to achieve this so far by sticking to my guns. However, I fear that one day I may become irrelevant if I choose not to join the bandwagon on certain things. It is something that I think about from time to time.

What is your experience with making quick decisions?

You have to make quick decisions in this business. Any kind of hesitation can lead to a loss of a client or a job. You have to trust your gut and jump into the fire as often as you can. This industry is so niche, and we simply cannot afford to not take a job whenever we are struggling for money. However, you should also know when to say no whenever you have had enough. There is a healthy balance here that will save your career.

How would you describe your editing skills?

I feel very confident in my editing skills. I have always felt that I was able to convey the message that people want in photos. Editing is a very important part of the job that takes precision and patience. Fortunately, I have spent many years perfecting those two aspects.

What interests in your life have led you down the path to becoming a photographer?

I have always wanted to capture the world around me through the lens of my camera. You can see things from a different perspective through this. However, I always knew that it would be a challenge to make this my full-time job. I do believe that anyone can become proficient in anything and make it their career. I loved the challenge of this thought process and continued to work hard to achieve the results that I have today. It is a combination of self-challenge and a passion for the craft that led me down this wonderful path.

What time of the day do you work best?

I work best in the morning. There is a small window of time where my brain is functioning its best, and I am able to think more clearly than any other part of the day.

What is your experience with social media?

I have had a generally positive experience on social media before. Most people claim that it is not their cup of tea. There is so much drama on social media that drives people away from using it. However, I have found that if you are able to work around this you can turn it into a lucrative business tool.
