Chris Mark Castle | Woodstock, Connecticut

Known as Chrismark Castle, the home has eight bedrooms and comes with 75 acres of land, including its own lake, according to Estately.

It’s owned by Christopher Mark, the great-grandson of Chicago steel tycoon Clayton Mark Sr.

Mark caused a ruckus in the small town of Woodstock when he bought the parcel and began building the 20-room castle in 2003. According to Connecticut Magazine, it took seven years and $4.1 million to build, and people from the town would often stop by for a glimpse.

The castle commands the land around historic Lake Potter. Fit for the contemporary king, this architectural wonder is accessible via two different stone bridges.

Upon crossing between towering turrets, the natural stone pathways guide visitors over a deep moat that surrounds the entire castle. Through the gate facing threshold, an expansive dining area serves to greet all with stunning austerity and elegance.

Masterfully painted scenes of the sky’s own clouds lie framed by hand toiled molding constructed into the ceiling overhead. Just beyond the breathtaking dining area, one may behold a panoramic Lakeview from the castle’s massive hosting kitchen.
